Abstract:

The objective of this thesis is to use coconut fibers as admixture and fly ash as a partial replacement of cement in M20 grade concrete. The compressive strength, split tensile strength and flexure strength of concrete at the age of 7, 14, 28, 56 and 90 days in normal water and sea water are tested and the comparison of strength of concrete cured in normal water and sea water are made. Based on the results there is an increase in compressive strength, flexural strength and split tensile strength of concrete is observed on 30% fly ash as a replacement and 5% coconut fibers as an admixture in cement when the specimens are cured in normal water. The compressive, flexural, split tensile strengths of concrete are tend to decrease which are cured in sea water when compared to the specimens cured in normal water.
