Word Sense Disambiguation (WSD) is an important and challenging technique in the area of natural language processing (NLP). A particular word may have different meaning in different context. So the main task of word sense disambiguation is to determine the correct sense of a word used in a particular context. Ambiguities provide great difficulty in the use of Natural languages. Words that occur in a particular context can be interpreted in more than one way depending up on the context. Natural languages like Malayalam also have many ambiguity words to be resolved. WSD plays a major role to improve the quality of the system. Here, we put forward a survey of various methods available in word sense disambiguation (WSD) and Malayalam WSD approaches.

Pages: 228 - 232
Chopper can be used as a converter to control the speed of separately excited DC motor. The speed control can be achieved above or below the rated speed. Controller receives the signal from the chopper firing circuit and then the chopper gives variable voltage to the armature of the motor for achieving desired speed. There are two control loops, one for controlling current and another for speed. The controller used is Proportional-Integral type which removes the delay and provides fast control. Modeling of separately excited DC motor is done. The complete layout of DC drive mechanism is obtained. The designing of current and speed controller is carried out. After obtaining the complete model of DC drive system, the model is simulated using MATLAB (SIMULINK).

The solid waste materials in cities are the natural outcome of human activities. Solid waste management is a global environmental problem in today’s world and is the key component of the infrastructure for a sustainable community. Urban solid waste management is considered as one of the most serious environmental problems confronting municipal authorities in developing countries. One of these impacts is due to improper location of dumping site in unsuitable areas. The problem associated with the solid waste disposal site in today’s society is complex because of the quantity and diverse nature of the wastes. Hence potential sites will have to be managed by technologies and methods that support sustainable communities and environment. Selection of suitable sites for waste disposal is based on several factors. Due to the different parameters involved, deciding upon a suitable location is also very complicated, costly and time consuming. Remote Sensing and Geographic Information System (GIS) allows users to view, understand, question, interpret and visualize spatial and non-spatial data in many ways that reveals relationships, patterns and trends in the form of maps, reports and charts. This paper deals with determination of suitable site for the disposal of waste generated from Krishnagiri district where the greatest protection for environment is provided using Remote Sensing and GIS techniques. This study that has been carried out involved analysing the existing solid waste disposal site initially and later land use land cover, geology, geomorphology, soil, road network and drainage mapping was done using on screen visual interpretation of the IRS P6 LISS-IV satellite imagery for identifying the sites for solid waste dumping. All thematic vector layers created were analysed by the theme wise suitability of different classes in the study area by giving them weightage scores using spatial analyst tool in Q-GIS to target the potential sites for waste disposal.

In this paper, an attempt to propose a thought controlled wheelchair, which uses the catch signals from the brain and eyes and processes it to control the wheelchair. Electroencephalography technique display an electrode cap that is placed on the user’s scalp for the acquisition of the EEG signals which are captured and translated into movement commands by the micro controller which in turn move the wheelchair. The electrical activity of the brain can be monitored in real– time using electrodes, which are placed on the scalp in a process known as electroencephalography. In order to bypass the peripheral nervous system, we need to find some reliable correlates in the brain signals that can be mapped to perform specific actions. In the next two subsections, we wil discuss the philosophy of different BCI paradigms, before explaining our chosen asynchronous implementation for controlling the wheelchair. In this paper, we are going to implement mind controlled wheel chair using EEG and MEMS. The EEG will monitor the brain signals and wheel chair will move according to the movement of the head with help of MEMS.

In the video inpainting techniques, we are presenting the framework for temporally consistent video completion by using the exemplar-based inpainting method of Criminisi et al to video inpainting and the other method which will be implemented on the certain frames of video in which, we are using optical flow. Here, we are specifically mentioning the two important issues which are often occur are: First one is, we are using a color and optical flow inpainting to ensure the temporal consistency of inpainting in the objects in a motion in video .The another is rather than selecting particular region in every single frame of video sequence, we implementing a flow based approach which will be applied for all the frame sequences which we have selected.

Energy today has become a key factor in deciding the product cost at micro level as well as in dictating the inflation and the debt burden at the macro level. Energy cost is a significant factor in economic activity based on factors of production like capital, land and labor. The imperatives of an energy shortage situation calls for energy conservation measure, which essentially mean using less energy for the same level of activity. As per Energy Conservation Act 2001, energy audit is mandatory for every commercial firm in India. Energy Audit attempts to balance the total energy inputs with its use and serves to identify all the energy streams in the systems and quantifies energy usages according to its discrete function. Energy Audit helps in energy cost optimization, pollution control, safety aspects and suggests the methods to improve the operating & maintenance practices of the system. It is instrumental in coping with the situation of variation in energy cost availability, reliability of energy supply, decision on appropriate energy mix, decision on using improved energy conservation equipment’s, instrumentation’s and technology.

Usually sorting of objects is carried out manually using human labor. Recognizing a particular object and placing it in the desired position is a laborious work especially in the field of industry where in one has to sort a bulk of objects in instant and also the load is greater than what a human can carry. This is when automation plays a major role. We have a robotic arm which picks different colored cubes and sorts them placing in different cups. The color processing is made using image processing with a webcam. The robotic arms are widely used in the industry, but most of them are used in PTP (Point To Point) trajectory, the moves are learned previously by the robotic arm. Very few robots in the industry are programmed to be clever, or to make decisions. In the future to completely replace the humans with robots, we require robotic arms which can make decisions. One good example for a smart robotic arm can be a robotic arm which can perform sorting of objects by color. This can be used in many factories; one good example can be a pencil factory.
