  The upturn in prices of materials for building construction is causing a lot of concern due to more utilization of building materials such as fine aggregate, coarse aggregate for the construction of structures, creating need for research into original materials as alternatives in building and rural infrastructures. Research efforts are directed towards enhancing the use of locally and readily available material such as lateritic soils for the construction. This study presents, the results of an experimental program to study the strength and durability performance of laterized concrete. A total of 108 cubes of 150mm, 108 cylinders 150mm dia X 300mm height and 81 prisms of 100 X100 X 500 mm dimensions were casted and cured in water as well as chemical solution for 7, 28, 60, and 90 days. Laterized concrete is concrete in which some or all of the fine aggregate is from laterite. To perform this investigation, M30 grade concrete is used, mix proportions 1: 1.274: 3.126 (Cement: sand/laterite: granite) with water/cement ratio of 0.45 was used. In this investigation, percentage laterite content (0%, 10%, 20%, 30%, 40% and 50%) exposure periods of 7, 28, 60, and 90 days on the compressive, flexure and splitting tensile strength tests of laterized concrete were investigated and also the effect of varying percentages of sulphuric acid (H2SO4) concentrations 1%, 3% and 5%, exposure periods of 7, 28, 60, and 90 days on the compressive, flexure and splitting tensile strength tests of laterized concrete were investigated. Data results revealed that the laterite fines used could satisfactorily replace the sand up to 30%. By fixing the laterite content as 30% of fine aggregate, the specimens are tested for durability studies under chemical attack. The specimens are immersed in H2SO4 solution for concentrations of 1%, 3%, 5% for an exposure period of 7, 28, 60 & 90 days, and the strengths of concrete at these ages were investigated.

  The main objective in the “Optimization of gate leaf of Automatic outflow regulating gate system” is to achieve suitable design for Gate leaf proper. Finite element analysis of Gate leaf proper is taken for the study. Structural systems of Gate leaf can be easily analyzed using Finite Element techniques. So firstly a proper Finite Element Model is developed using Cad software Creo 1.0. Then static analysis is done to determine the Equivalent stresses, shear stress & total deformations etc in the present design for the given loading conditions in gate close position as well as gate open position using Finite Element Analysis Software ANSYS v 12. The analysis of gate leaf shows that stresses under both loading conditions are well below permissible limit. The new designed & optimized gate leaf is also analyzed to determine the von Misses stress, shear stress etc. Compared to existing design of gate leaf, new designed gate leaf has 30.38% less in weight while satisfying the permissible stress condition.

  This paper introduces a new robust four way LMS and variable step size NLMS beam forming algorithm to reduce interference in a smart antenna system. This algorithm is able to resolve signals arriving from narrowband sources propagating plane waves close to the array end fire. The results of previously used adaptive algorithm have the fixed step size NLMS will result in a trade-off issue between convergence rate and steady-state MSE of NLMS algorithm. This issue is solved by using four way LMS and VSSNLMS which will improve the efficiency of the convergence point. The proposed algorithm implemented reduces the mean square error (MSE) and shows faster convergence rate when compared to the conventional NLMS.

  This concept of conveying lint from intermittent ducting from various source of point has lot of present problems in ginning Industries, such as jamming of lint collection box/hopper, power consumption is more due to high CMH requirement. The main advantage of pneumatic conveying system is that material is transferred in close loop, thereby preventing the environmental effect on the material and vice versa. No standard procedure is available for the design of pneumatic lint conveying system. As the configuration of the system changes, variable involved also changes, and one has to change the design considerations based on the applications. So there is wide scope for experimentation in the field of pneumatic conveying system.

  Electrical discharge machining (EDM) is a non-conventional machining process used to manufacture intricate profiles, complex shapes, process hard materials that are extremely difficult to machine by conventional machining processes. This thermo electric machining technique is continuously emerging from a mere tool and dies making process to a micro scale machining applications. In recent years, researches have emphasized on process performance like material removal rate (MRR), tool wear rate (TWR), surface roughness (SR). Powder mixed electrical discharge machining (PMEDM) has emerged as one of the advanced techniques in the direction of the enhancement of the capabilities of EDM. This article presents comprehensive history, mechanism of PMEDM process, and reviews research literature in this area. The last part of this article outlines trends for future AEDM research directions.

  Mid Pennar Reservoir (MPR) is located near Penakacherla village, Garladinne Mandal, Anantapur district, Andhra Pradesh, India. Water from MPR is being supplied to the ayacut through Mid Pennar North Canal (MPNC) and Mid Pennar South Canal (MPSC). MPSC is having 30 distributaries among which 5th distributary has been considered for the present study. The total command area under 5th Distributory is 4337.34 Hectares. The command area is being influenced by three rain gauge stations viz. Pamidi, Peddavaduguru and Singanamala. Rain fall particulars have been collected for the influencing rain gauge stations for the years 2011-12 to 2014-15. The weighted rain fall for the study area has been computed by Theissen polygon method. Evapotranspiration (ET0) values and Crop co-efficients (Kc values) for crops grown in the study area have been collected and utilized for computation of Crop water requirement. As per the particulars collected from Irrigation department, the values of actual water utilized are less than the computed values of water requirement which may imply that the actual effective rainfall realised might be more than the percentage of effective rainfall considered in the calculations. There is no possibility of getting increased effective utilization of rain fall by the irrigated dry crops. Hence, the actual effective rainfall realized in case of Wet crops in respective years have been computed. The percentage effective rainfall realized for wet crops in the command area of 5th distributary of Mid Pennar South Canal is in the range of 87% to 90%.

  A cotton gin is a machine that quickly and easily separates cotton fibers from their seeds, allowing for much greater productivity than manual cotton separation. The fibers are processed into clothing or other cotton goods, and any undamaged seeds may be used to grow more cotton or to produce cottonseed oil and meal. The cotton gin is a machine used to separate cotton fibers from the seed. The double roller ginning machine consists of various parts such as beater shaft, leather roller, moving knife, fixed knife, feeder, etc. During the ginning operation the shaft fails at certain location. The actual failure position of shaft shown in fig no A was studied and the failure analysis using theories of failure was used to identify and validate the place or point of failure.

  In this paper, the effect of silicon powder mixing into the dielectric fluid of EDM on Surface roughness of Al6063 aluminium alloy has been studied. Three process parameters, namely peak current, pulse on time, concentration of powder has been considered. The process performance is measured in terms of surface roughness (SR). The research outcome will identify the important parameters and their effect on SR of Al6063 alloy in the presence of suspended silicon powder in an EDM oil dielectric. The study indicated that all the selected parameters have a significant effect on the mean and variation in SR (S/N ratio). A well-known Taguchi methodology is applied to optimize the SR. The confirmation runs showed that the setting of peak current at a low level (1 A), pulse-on time at a low level (10 μs), powder concentration at a medium level (4 g/l) produced best surface finish from Al6063 alloy surfaces when machined by silicon powder mixed EDM.

  Power transformers are expensive and important component in power system. Insulation behavior, loads tap changer performance, temperature and load condition is the knowledge of actual status of the transformer. This is necessary in order to evaluate the service performance concerning reliability, safety and availability. System abnormalities, switching, loading, ambient condition are contribute to aging and failure. In this paper present the causes in the power transformer. Monitoring system will be valuable for preventing damage to the transformer. The faults and online monitoring are also analyzed.

  Thermodynamic analysis of the triple pressure reheat combined cycle gas turbine with duct burner are presented and discussed in this paper .The overall performance of a combined cycle Gas turbine power plant is influenced by the ambient temperature and turbine inlet temperature. These parameters affect the overall thermal efficiency, power output .The ambient temperature increases the gas temperature and also the individual steam production rate also increased at each stage of the turbine. The exergy is used to evaluate maximum irreversibility of the process present in the cycle.
